Dolly Parton To ‘Rub Elbows’ With Royalty This Fall

Though Dolly Parton has her own cookbooks and brand new line of frozen foods, the country legend still isn’t sure about doing her own cooking show.

So HuffPost asked Parton, who is America’s version of royalty, if she would be open to collaborating with Meghan Markle, another American royal who has a cooking and lifestyle show.

“Well, never say never, you never know where you’re gonna go,” she said. “In fact, I’m going to go to England in October, and I’m going to actually, hopefully, get to have tea with the queen.”

Parton added, “I think they’re involved a lot with our Imagination Library there.” Queen Camilla, in particular, has founded “The Queen’s Reading Room,” a literary charity and book club.

“So I’m going to go over there and kind of really rub elbows with the royalty. So yes, anything is possible. I never say no to anything,” Parton said.

And while Parton was unable to get tea with Kate Middleton on the books during a visit to the U.K. in 2023 due to a busy schedule, she’s certainly open to another meeting.

“I don’t know if that offer still stands, but if she wants me and I’m there, I’ll be right there with tea bag in hand,” Parton said with a laugh.

Parton had previously invited Prince William and Kate’s three children ― Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis ― over to her Tennessee theme park, Dollywood. That invitation still stands, as well.

“They’re all invited. We would love to have them at Dollywood, and if they decide their schedule ever permits that, well, then we will go all out to try to make it a royal treat for them,” she said.

Parton has spoken about her connections with the royals over the years and posted a moving tribute to Queen Elizabeth II after her death in September 2022.

“I had the honour of meeting and performing for Queen Elizabeth II on my trip to London in 1977, Parton said in an Instagram post at the time, alongside a photo of the two’s encounter. “She carried herself with grace and strength her entire life. May she Rest in Peace. My thoughts and prayers are with her family at this time.”
