Grok, the AI model installed on Elon Musk’s social media app X/Twitter, continued to prove its uselessness in recent days by confusing The Hunger Games with Aftersun. Hunger Games is a dystopian YA fiction franchise, and Aftersun is a tiny emotional drama about a father and daughter.

Over the weekend, a Twitter user posted a GIF from the The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2 to describe the feeling of consuming a piece of media — movie, TV, video game, book, etc. — that no one else is talking about.

One user replied to the tweet asking Grok what movie the clip is from, and Grok replied by saying it’s from Charlotte Wells’ 2022 drama Aftersun, which starred Paul Mescal as a depressed single dad on holiday with his young daughter.

The scene actually depicts the character Finnick being killed by creatures called “lizard mutts” in the 2015 film The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2.

Grok also refuses to amend its stance and continues to claim that its assessment was correct.

The Hunger Game/Aftersun mix-up wasn’t Grok’s only suspect moment in recent days as it also posted some weird tweets in which it seemingly took on the first-person point-of-view of Elon Musk while discussing Jeffrey Epstein.
