Actor Diego Luna recently appeared on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” to tease what fans can expect from his new Star Wars series, “Andor.”

The latest live-action Disney+ series will focus on the character of Cassian Andor, who was originated by the Mexican actor in the 2016 film, “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.”

The two-season prequel series will focus on how Andor joined the Rebellion and lead directly into the first few moments of the film. With the first season scheduled to debut next week, Luna has been giving fans a hint of what they can expect from the latest Star Wars Disney+ series.

Diego Luna Teases What Fans Can Expect From Upcoming ‘Star Wars’ Series ‘Andor’

Jimmy Kimmel introduced Luna by sharing a brief scene from the premiere of “Andor,” which can be seen in the video above. The show does seem visually darker than some of its other Disney+ series, prompting Kimmel to ask the 42-year-old actor if the show is geared towards adults and not for children.

Luna said that “it’s a complex show” and noted that his son, 14, and daughter, 12, both love the show, so it’s just as much for children as it is for adults. Luna said that he thinks “it’s about people that want complexity.”

He noted that there are “so many layers in the show sometimes” and feels that “Andor” brings “the adventure and the action that you want to see in Star Wars.” However, he said that the show “becomes very dark and political.”

He clarified his comment by saying that the show is ultimately a spy thriller, which are comments that have been echoed by “The Bourne Legacy” creator and showrunner Tony Gilroy, who co-wrote “Rogue One” as well.

“It gets very intimate into the life of these people,” Luna added, noting that season one will consist of twelve episodes and that season two will reveal the series’ final twelve episodes.

Jimmy Kimmel also asked Diego Luna about the decision to release three episodes at once when the show premieres on Disney+ on Wednesday, September 21.

Luna said that the first season is “like a film, the whole thing,” noting that “it’ll be like an hour.” He said that “a good chunk” of the series will “be like a film, basically.” However, he added, “it’s important for us that you get to see three episodes and understand what we’re aiming for.”

He revealed that “Andor” will introduce fans to “a lot of new characters, new planets, and, again, it’s about spies, so there’s a lot of information and complexity. It’s cool.”

Luna Discusses What It Was Like Appearing At D23

Last week, Diego Luna took the stage at the Disney D23 Expo, where the third and final trailer for the series was shown to an excited crowd. The “Open Range” actor spoke to the crowd in Spanish and thanked them for all the love and support that they have shown to both him and his character.

When Kimmel asked him about what it was like to be on stage, Luna had nothing but praise for the event. “It’s amazing, the energy over there,” Luna said. “It’s seven thousand people in a room.”

“Super fans… they make you believe like everything you do is worth applause, you know?” he asked. “Basically, you come out, and I have to send a message, you know, because it’s a beautiful thing, the amount of love around Star Wars, you know, you come out and everyone cares about your show.”

Luna then joked that he “spent my whole life trying to get people’s attention and at the end say, ‘Oh, by the way, there’s a show you can watch where I’m in,’ you know, and now it’s the opposite. It’s pure expectation. Seven thousand people going ‘We wanna like it.’”
