At 98 years young, Dick Van Dyke continues to rack up accolades.
On Saturday, Van Dyke tied Norman Lear as the oldest recipient of a Creative Arts Emmy by winning the award for Outstanding Variety Special (Pre-Recorded) for his recent special, Dick Van Dyke 98 Years of Magic.
The two-hour special, which aired on CBS last December, featured archival footage and live performances of songs from Van Dyke’s legendary career.
Van Dyke, who turns 99 in December, attended the awards show with his wife, Arlene Silver, who served as a producer on the project. Speaking with reporters after winning his Emmy, the legendary actor joked, “I’ve been in the business 75 years. I can’t believe it, that I’m still here and performing. I’m looking for work if anybody has!”
Back in June, Van Dyke became the oldest winner of a Daytime Emmy Award for his guest role on the soap opera Days of Our Lives.
Van Dyke now has seven Emmys to his name. He won his first in 1964 for Outstanding Actor in a Comedy Series for The Dick Van Dyke Show.
Over the years, Van Dyke has also won a Grammy, a Tony, a Screen Actors Guild Award, and was recognized with a Kennedy Center Honors and an induction into the Disney Legends Hall of Fame.
