Dialect, the British experimental musician born Andrew PM Hunt, has announced a new album, Atlas of Green, with a video for “Late Fragment.” Check out the Sara Ludy–directed short below. Rvng Intl. is releasing the album on September 20.
Atlas of Green follows Under~Between, Hunt’s 2021 LP and one of Pitchfork’s favorite underrated records of that year. The new album was partly inspired by the Italian philosopher Federico Campagna, whose writing—along with the science fiction of Ursula K. Le Guin and Gene Wolfe—informed Hunt’s music-making during a residency at Bidston Artistic Research Center.
As he put it in press materials, “We’re not just on an endless procession through constantly better worlds. Our lack of action (on climate and inequality) feels hopeless at times. I find some comfort in the idea that maybe the world needs a new song in order to tell a new story about itself.”
