Death Cab for Cutie will celebrate the 20th anniversary of their 2005 album Plans with a run of four shows in August 2025.
The four shows will feature Death Cab for Cutie playing Plans in full, and take place in Chicago, New York, and the band’s hometown, Seattle. Death Cab previously embarked on a sprawling tour in 2023-2024 where they played their critically-beloved LP Transatlanticism in full; now, they’re giving their major label follow-up the same treatment (albeit with less dates this time around).

The Plans run will begin with a Seattle show on August 2nd at Climate Pledge Arena, and continue with a date at the Chicago Theater on August 5th. They’ll then head east for a pair of concluding shows at the Brooklyn Paramount in New York City on August 8th and 10th, with a date in East Rutherford, New Jersey opening for My Chemical Romance coming in between. See their tour dates below.
Tickets for the limited run of Plans shows will first be available via an artist pre-sale kicking off on Thursday, February 13th at 10:00 a.m. local time; fans can sign up for pre-sale access to their desired show date(s) on Death Cab for Cutie’s official website. Afterwards, tickets will go on sale for the general public on Friday, February 14th at 10:00 a.m. local time (9:00 a.m. CST for the Chicago show) via Ticketmaster.
Released on August 30th, 2005 as their first album on Atlantic Records, Plans served as Death Cab for Cutie’s mainstream breakout. It spawned three hits: “Soul Meets Body,” “I Will Follow You into the Dark,” and “Crooked Teeth.” “Plans is an album that changed the trajectory of Death Cab for Cutie forever — it was our major label debut, it went platinum, and earned us our first Grammy nominations,” the band’s Ben Gibbard said in a statement.
“We are only playing a few shows in its honor as we’re currently working on our next studio album, but we would be remiss to not take the opportunity to celebrate the 20th anniversary in some fashion.”
