The new Deadpool & Wolverine trailer is here, and nerds worldwide are scouring the footage for comic book Easter eggs. The Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman team-up had plenty of bromance vibes but also hinted at a story behind the comedy hijinks.
The biggest takeaway is that months of whining from fanboys about Wolverine’s costume was for naught. When the first images of Jackman in costume were released, comic book nerds around the world blubbered about Logan’s iconic uniform sporting sleeves. The character famously goes sleeveless in the comics.
However, it seems Wolverine quickly adopts his classic sleeveless look alongside Deadpool aka Wade Wilson. Nearly every shot of him in costume is sans the pesky extra fabric.
Meanwhile, a fan-favorite popped in the new trailer, too, Dogpool is here! The pooch is a variant of Deadpool, the result of a world in which a dangerous experimental cosmetic was tested on the poor pooch, giving healing powers like that of Deadpool.
He’s a good boy with a face only Wade can love, as Logan is clearly disgusted by the doggo.
The ‘Deapool & Wolverine’ Trailer Hints at a World Without The Avengers
Another standout moment showcases what looks to be the ruins of a giant-sized Ant-Man uniform. This seems to hint that Wade and Logan at least visit an alternate reality in which the Avengers are no more.

Meanwhile, the new trailer offered our first real look at the film’s main villain. The trailer suggests that Deadpool enlists Logan’s help to repair his ruined world due to Cassandra Nova (Emma Corrin), a formidable mutant with a complex connection to Charles Xavier (Patrick Stewart).
Nova is known for her psychic ability to manipulate others into committing heinous acts. At one point in the trailer, she throws around a beleaguered Logan like a mutant rag doll.
The Trailer Finally Confirms How Deadpool and Wolverine Leap to Different Cinematic Universes
For some time, fans have speculated that the new Deadpool sequel would involve the multiverse, with Wade visiting multiple incarnations of superheroes across several film franchises.
This is all but confirmed in the trailer, as we see Wade and Logan jumping through dimensional portals like the ones Dr. Strange has deployed in past Marvel films.
Seeing Deadpool and Wolverine in the trailer strike classic poses from the comics as they leap through a portal is pure nerd brain candy.
Reynolds was on a quest to get Jackman in a Deadpool flick. He launched a charm offensive since Jackman hung up his Wolverine claws post-Logan in 2017.
Finally, the Aussie couldn’t resist the call of the Reynolds and decided to return for more action. Directed by Shawn Levy, the upcoming flick, set to release on July 26, will be Marvel Studios’ inaugural R-rated film.
