A new Wolverine-focused teaser for Deadpool & Wolverine has been released and the clip confirms the return of a villain from the original X-Men movie in the year 2000.
The teaser clip, dropped about a month before the film’s release on July 26, focuses on the past of Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine/Logan and reveals that Sabertooth will not only appear in Deadpool & Wolverine, but the pair will get in a long-awaited one-on-one battle.
Check out the teaser, which Jackman shared with the caption “Stop bringing up my past,” below.
While he’s yet to be officially confirmed to be a part of the cast, it looks as though Sabertooth is being played by Tyler Mane, the actor who played the character in X-Men.
In the infamous 2009 misfire X-Men Origins: Wolverine, the character was recast and played by Liev Schriber.
In addition to Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool and Jackman as Wolverine — albeit seemingly a technically different version than the one in 2017’s Logan — Deadpool & Wolverine also stars Emma Corrin, Owen Wilson, Matthew Macfadyen, Morena Baccarin, Brianna Hildebrand, Rob Delaney, and based on this trailer, likely many other surprise cameos.
Other confirmed returning characters are Jennifer Garner’s Elektra and Alexander Burton as Pyro (the fire guy from the first three X-Men movies). Given the presence of Garner’s Elektra, there’s also been speculation that Ben Affleck’s Daredevil could pop up, too.`
Deadpool & Wolverine officially releases in movie theaters in the United States on Friday, July 26, with showings beginning on the night of Thursday, July 25. Check out the official trailer for the film below.
