Disney presented at CinemaCon in Las Vegas on Thursday, April 11, and brought with them a 9-minute-long sizzle real for the highly-anticipated upcoming Marvel Studios movie Deadpool & Wolverine.
While the footage has not been released publicly, reports indicate that the sizzle real included jokes about cocaine, strippers, pegging, and Disney acquiring 20th Century Fox, which allowed them to fold Deadpool into the MCU.
“Suck it Fox, I’m going to Disneyland. Get f—–,” Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool says.
“There were also references to cocaine use (‘The only thing Feige said was off limits!’ Deadpool said in the footage, which often breaks the fourth wall) and a security force mistaken for exotic dancers at a surprise birthday party for Reynolds. ‘I’m not new to pegging,’ Deadpool tells a group of goons wielding batons, ‘but Disney is. And this isn’t Pretty Woman. We’re kissing.’” [via Variety]
As for the rest of the sizzle reel, it largely showcased what was featured in the trailer: Deadpool is recruited by Matthew Macfayden’s Mr. Paradox and the Time Variance Authority to save the MCU’s sacred timeline
During Mr. Paradox’s presentation to Wade Wilson (which is seen in the trailer — below), a clip of Thor crying over Deadpool’s body can be seen, with Paradox then saying “That happens in the distant future,” which could be a potential tease of Avengers: Secret Wars — what studio is planning to be their next Infinity War/Endgame-level event.
Disney is still, however, holding their cards close to their chest when it comes to Hugh Jackman’s much-hyped return as Wolverine, as he wasn’t featured in the footage show at CinemaCon.
Jackman’s Wolverine could, however, be heard during a pre-presentation PSA alongside Ryan Reynolds, in which the two banter as Wolverine and Deadpool.
In the PSA asking people to turn off their cellphones, Deadpool kicks it off by saying “So, I heard Secret Wars is finally gonna introduce…” before a ringing phone cuts him off.
Wolverine then chimes in saying “Hey, bub … You’re in a movie theater, turn off you’re f—— phone” which prompts Deadpool to say that hearing Wolverine curse and break the fourth wall makes his “d— vibrate.”
Deadpool then concludes by saying, “Nice fourth wall break, didn’t think ya had it in ya!”
Alongside Reynolds and Jackman, Deadpool & Wolverine also stars Emma Corrin, Owen Wilson, Matthew Macfadyen, Morena Baccarin, Brianna Hildebrand, Jennifer Garner, Leslie Uggams, Karan Soni, Stefan Kapičić, Rob Delaney, and more. The film will hit movie theaters in the United States on Friday, July 26.
