The 50th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards ceremony is coming up on June 16, so it’s that time of year again! The lead actor and actress nominations have been revealed for 2023, so let’s talk about the top soap stars to receive the honor.
For starters, we should mention that The Bay, The Bold and the Beautiful, Days of Our Lives, General Hospital and The Young and the Restless all scored nominations in the Outstanding Daytime Drama Series category.
As for which actresses were chosen, three Y&R leading ladies were nominated for their work along with one from B&B and one from GH.
Sharon Case (Sharon Rosales), Melissa Claire Egan (Chelsea Lawson) and Michelle Stafford (Phyllis Stafford) were all on the list for Outstanding Lead Performance in a Daytime Drama Series: Actress, so The Young and the Restless was very well-represented in this category.
However, The Bold and the Beautiful’s Jacqueline MacInnes Wood (Steffy Forrester) also scored a nomination – and the same goes for General Hospital’s Finola Hughes (Anna Devane).
Next, we should discuss the Outstanding Lead Performance in a Daytime Drama Series: Actor category, which featured two Y&R nominations as well as one for B&B.
GH and Days each had a nom as well, so this category had a nice mix of all the main soaps.
Peter Bergman (Jack Abbott) and Jason Thompson (Billy Abbott) were the actors given this nomination honor for The Young and the Restless.
Thorsten Kaye (Ridge Forrester) also picked up a nom for The Bold and the Beautiful while Maurice Benard (Sonny Corinthos) was nominated for General Hospital.
Billy Flynn (Chad DiMera) earned the last lead actor nomination spot for Days of Our Lives, so there are plenty of great performers to root for!
Of course, there’ll be even more actors and actresses to honor in other categories, so this will be a night to remember for every performer involved.
