David Duchovny Has a New X-Files-ish History Channel Show

David Duchovny, best known for his portrayal of Agent Fox Mulder on The X-Files, has a new non-fiction show on the History Channel that seems to tackle some familiar subject matter.

It’s called Secrets Declassified and is set to investigate “the government’s most secretive, strange, and mind-blowing activities that have been declassified throughout history,” according to the official logline. Each episode will reportedly feature Duchovny diving into a different topic — like Area 51, for example — with the help of various experts.

“I’ve always been drawn to explorations of the more complicated aspects of our lives, leaning into conversations that dig below the surface and unlock a more interesting story,” Duchovny explained in a statement. “I’m thrilled to be executive producing and hosting a new History Channel series that’s not afraid to go there. We’re telling the incredible stories of government secrets that have only recently come to light. This series proves that secrets can be uncovered, and mysteries can still be unraveled.”

There might be no explicit mention of The X-Files, but the combination of Agent Mulder, the government, and inexplicable happenings certainly brings the beloved program to mind. In case it put you in the X-Files mood, you can revisit our ranking of its 30 best episodes.

Secrets Declassified is set to premiere on Friday, April 4th at 10:00 p.m. ET.
