As the MCU-to-DCU pipeline picks up steam, Dave Bautista might be up for a change of scenery.
After reuniting with Pom Klementieff for his new movie The Killer’s Game, premiering Sept. 13 via Lionsgate, the actor addressed the possibility of teaming up onscreen with the rest of their Guardians of the Galaxy co-stars once again.
“I hope so, yeah. That’s kind of my goal,” he told ComicBook.com. “I really want, because I’ve done another project outside of Guardians with Karen Gillan, and I’ve done work with Pom now. I would like to work with Chris [Pratt] and Zoe [Saldana] outside of the Marvel Universe, as well.”
He previously portrayed Drax the Destroyer in all three of director James Gunn‘s Guardians of the Galaxy movies, as well as several other MCU titles.
Bautista said he would “of course” consider joining the DCU after Gunn took over at DC Studios with Peter Safran in 2022. “As I’ve said, and I’ve been very open to that. I guess it just has to be the right part. But I’m very open to it, and I love James and I would do anything to work with him,” he said.
Gunn previously teased that some GOTG alums might be set to join the DCU following speculation of Pratt and Klementieff appearances in upcoming movies. “If you had the chance to cast any of the GOTG stars in the DC Universe, who would you cast them as?” a fan asked on Threads, to which Gunn responded, “Well that would be a spoiler wouldn’t it?”
Meanwhile, James’ actor brother Sean Gunn is joining the DCU as villain Maxwell Lord after playing Kraglin Obfonteri in the GOTG movies.
In July, director Gunn celebrated on Instagram as filming wrapped on Superman: Legacy, which premieres on July 11, 2025, kicking off the new DCU.
