Dark Souls narrator and iconic actor Pik-Sen Lim has died aged 80

Malaysian-born British actor Pik-Sen Lim passed away on June 9 at 80. Lim is best known for her roles in British TV dramas, including Mind Your Language and Doctor Who, but many FromSoftware fans will recognize her from Dark Souls and Dark Souls 3.

Pik-Sen Lim famously voiced the opening cutscenes for both the original Dark Souls and Dark Souls 3, with her iconic voice lending to the dramatic atmosphere of both games. Lim helped set the tone for players around the world, helping to set the tone for the brutal and tough adventures that lay ahead.

As reported by Malay Mail, Pik-Sen Lim was born in Malaysia in 1944 and moved to the UK in the 1960s. She gained international recognition and became a familiar face on British and Malaysian television for her role in Mind Your Language (1977) and Doctor Who (1971). 

She also appeared in Johnny English Reborn (2011) alongside Rowan Atkinson, where she notably played the Killer Cleaner. Lim also starred in a lot of sitcoms, including The Bill, Casualty, Holby City, and Coronation Street.

Fellow actor Daniel Y Loh gave a heartfelt tribute on Facebook, detailing how lucky he was to have worked with her:

“A joyous person, full of love and laughter and mischief, she was so much fun to be around and her gift for comedy was such that you always felt safe in front of an audience with her, that absolutely unique voice and vivacious energy carrying us all with her,” wrote the actor.

“I was even lucky enough to direct her a couple of times in play readings and there were whole levels of her talent that I just kept discovering.”
