Cut Copy Announce New Album Moments, Reveal 2025 Tour Dates

Cut Copy are back to announce Moments, their seventh studio album, out September 5th. They’ve also revealed the new song “When This Is Over” and mapped out a fall 2025 North American tour.

Moments serves as Cut Copy’s first new album since 2020’s Freeze, Melt; they also returned in 2022 to reveal the B-sides and rarities package Collected Works 2001/2011. The Australian group marked their reemergence this year with Moments’ lead single “Solid” as well as the B-side “A Decade Long Sunset.”

“Since our last album release, 5 years have passed. In that time I had a child, people around me fell in and out of relationships, the world went through a global pandemic and there has been a myriad of social and political upheaval. So I guess there’s been a fair bit on my mind, and for me making this album has been a way of processing it all,” said frontman Dan Whitford in a press release.

He continued: “Stylistically everyone in the band loved the sonic palette of the last album. It felt clean, modern and emotive, but still like Cut Copy. We tried to keep that modern approach, but turn it into something more energetic, psychedelic and euphoric; seeing how that approach could evolve and work on a dance floor, not just an ambient context… Dance music is about connecting with one another after all. Euphoria bubbles away under the surface in most of the songs and I think that’s the Cut Copy DNA shining through.”

The quartet will also hit the road in support of Moments this fall. After a handful of shows in Australia in September, Cut Copy will commence their 12-date North American run on November 10th in Seattle; they’ll continue through cities like Portland, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Philadelphia, Brooklyn, Chicago, and more, with an appearance at Mexico City’s Corona Capital festival on the way. The run ends with a November 25th show in Miami. See Cut Copy’s full list of tour dates below.

Tickets for Cut Copy’s 2025 tour will first be available via an artist pre-sale running on Wednesday, June 25th at 10:00 a.m. local time; fans can sign up for pre-sale access to their desired show date(s) via Cut Copy’s official website. Tickets go on-sale for the general public on Friday, June 27th at 10:00 a.m. local time via Ticketmaster as well as Cut Copy’s website.

“When This Is Over” is the latest offering from Moments, and it brings a psychedelic edge to the band’s sticky synth pop. The track begins with a more minimalist, bouncy synth arrangement, eventually expanding to feature syncopated guitars, a children’s choir, and a psych-rock release with rapid-fire drum fills courtesy of Mitchell Scott.

“Over the course of the song, the mood progresses from conflict to a sort of truce-like resolution,” Whitford said of the song. “As humans sometimes it’s hard to find common ground when hurt runs deep, but as the song says, ‘we’re more the same than you’ll ever know’.” Stream “When This Is Over” below.
