Criss Angel opened up about a trick that he planned with Ginuwine that put the singer’s life in danger.
The magician collaborated with the “Pony” singer for a segment on his new show Magic with the Stars. However, leaked video footage from their time filming revealed that the trick they had planned went very wrong.
Ginuwine passed out while attempting to pull off an underwater escape and was thankfully removed from what could have been a very dangerous situation.

“My heart was in my mouth at that moment. I didn’t know what the hell was going on until we got him,” Criss told the Daily Mail.
He added that he wasn’t sure what had happened in the moment: “You just never know. My concern was whether he had a stroke or heart attack.”
He also talked about the training that went into preparing Ginuwine for the trick. Criss said that they worked on his breath control so that he could hold his breath underwater for a minute. Although they were prepared, panic set it when the moment came.
“He got scared of the water and therefore he was not focused on the technique,” Criss said. “That is what got him in trouble. And as he struggled he told me that he blacked out.”
He expressed his gratitude that Ginuwine made it out uninjured and also talked about what a leaked video of the terrible moment showed people.
“Honestly, it showed the world that there is a real danger in doing the stunt. Ginuwine was fine thanks to the safety protocols we had in place,” he explained.
Ginuwine returned for a second attempt and pulled off the trick, which moved Criss and everyone else involved.
“Ginuwine really wanted to overcome his fear and convinced me it was something he needed to do. The medic team cleared him, but still it was an incredibly emotionally difficult decision for me to agree,” he added.
Criss has also been injured in stunts gone wrong.
