In the 1940s, a Las Vegas casino opened up what is widely considered America’s first “all-you-can-eat buffet,” a concept that quickly spread across a country with a bit of a reputation for gluttonous tendencies.
Restaurants across the culinary spectrum have harnessed that particular approach to lure in customers, including plenty of purveyors specializing in Chinese food and a few chains that don’t really discriminate when it comes to the options they offer to hungry patrons.
That includes Golden Corral, which opened its first location in North Carolina in 1973 and now boasts close to 400 outposts across the United States.
Golden Corral markets itself as an “endless buffet,” and while it may employ certain strategies to come out in the green, there are plenty of people who view that label as a bit of a challenge.
While they may not all get their money’s worth, it certainly appears competitive eater Moh “Motion” Mbengue was able to do exactly that when he stopped by a Golden Corral in Kissimmee, Florida while visiting the city for a qualifier for this year’s Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest.
Mbengue treated himself to a massive spread during his visit, as his meal included multiple servings of:
- Cheeseburgers
- Popcorn shrimp
- Mac and cheese
- Pizza
- Steak
- French fries
However, he ran into a slight issue, as he filmed a few employees he claimed were debating whether or not he should be kicked out for apparently exceeding a limit the restaurant may or may not have in place for customers who threaten to impact the bottom line.
It appears he decided to leave under his own volition, which means he was able to escape the fate that befell one man who was banned from an all-you-can-eat sushi joint and another who was told not to return to a buffet in China for the same reason.
