YouTuber Colleen Ballinger, aka Miranda Sings, announced that she is taking a break from uploading daily vlogs… but many netizens aren’t sad to see her go.

Ballinger was once one of the most popular YouTubers on the platform, hailed for her over-the-top comedic character named ‘Miranda Sings.’

The ‘Miranda Sings’ YouTube channel boasts over 10 million subscribers and was first created in 2008 — but in June 2023, her popularity took a nosedive.

After battling accusations of ‘grooming’ a young fan in 2020, these allegations once again came forward three years later, prompting the YouTuber to respond by singing a sarcastic song while playing a ukulele.

Colleen Ballinger spoke out about the allegations against her – or rather, sang about them – in a video that was lambasted across the internet.

The video went massively viral due to Ballinger’s bizarre response to such serious claims. While she took a brief hiatus from making content, she has since returned to making daily vlogs on her vlog channel, which has garnered over 3 million subs since being launched in 2014.

However, it seems that Ballinger is now taking yet another break from her YouTube career, as told in a vlog on February 25, 2025.

Colleen Ballinger’s YouTube break sparks criticism from viewers

In the video, Ballinger said that she needed to “heal in a million different ways” and figure out an upload schedule that works better with her daily life and the demands of being a mother to her children.

“I am very burnt out,” she admitted. “…I just need to take a second to breathe and reorganize my life, because what I’ve been doing is not working and my body is deteriorating, and my brain.”

Ballinger explained that her shoulder had given out while decorating her twins’ room and editing her vlogs, saying that she’s working on hiring an editor to make her job easier — and while fans on YouTube were supportive, netizens on other platforms were less sympathetic.

“It should be forever. No one will miss her ever,” one said on Reddit.

“She wants a Jenna Marbles moment so bad, but nobody gives f**k,” another wrote.

“She cannot leave fast enough,” another said on YouTube.

“Colleen: I’m leaving. Internet: And nothing of value was lost,” another joked.

While she’s taking a brief hiatus from vlogging, Ballinger clarified that she could be making daily videos again very soon and that her regular podcast episodes will still be available for fans to listen to in the interim.

This is the latest news to come from the YouTuber after she revealed that she’d lost a role in a Broadway show due to the accusations against her, which she called “totally made up.”
