The emotional opening track from Clipse’s new album, Let God Sort Em Out, sees the brothers Thornton taking turns mourning their parents. So, their Tuesday performance of “The Birds Don’t Sing” on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon was particularly moving. Watch it below.
Photos of their mother were displayed on the screen behind them as Pusha T crisply delivered his verse dedicated to her, before switching to images of the entire family during the chorus. Malice’s verse remembering their father followed, accompanied by pictures of the patriarch.
As features writer Kiana Fitzgerald wrote in her review of Let God Sort Em Out, “The Birds Don’t Sing” finds “a happy medium” for Clipse, balancing out their coke bars with ruminations about faith and family.
