Clara Fernandez is sharing a fit check with her followers. In a new social media post the track and field star turned influencer shows off her flat abs in a hot pink Nike top and black bike shorts. “New day, new outfit,” she wrote about the Instagram Stories image. How does she approach diet, fitness, and self-care? Here is everything you need to know about her lifestyle habits. 

Clara spends a good amount of time doing track and field training. As she is a pole vaulter, it involves a lot of sprinting and jumping. Pole vaulting is a form of cardio because you need to run fast before launching yourself into the air. “Even if you’re unlikely to start flinging your body to amazing heights anytime soon, there’s plenty to learn from watching Olympic pole-vaulters. Dr. Jones suggests watching the incredible core and upper body strength of vaulters, as well as their unique running style and power,” says Adventist Health.

Fernández does a lot of strength training workouts. In a recent Instagram Story she does some pretty impressive barbell squats. She also deadlifts.Why is strength training a great workout? The Mayo Clinic explains that it helps reduce body fat, preserve and increase lean muscle mass, and burn calories more efficiently. Strength training may also help you:

  • Enhance your quality of life
  • Manage chronic conditions
  • Sharpen your thinking skills

Clara is a surfer, which offers many benefits per the Australian government’s Better Health. “Up north,” she wrote about a recent photo of herself on the beach. Benefits include improved cardiovascular fitness from paddling, shoulder and back strength, which also strengthens from the paddling, and leg and core strength. “Once you’re standing up on the board, strong legs and a strong core will keep you up,” they say. 

Clara gets regular massages to keep her body healthy. According to the Mayo Clinic, studies support the many benefits of getting a regular rub down. These include stress reduction, lessening pain and muscle tightness, increased relaxation, and improved immunity.

Clara makes sure to maintain a healthy diet, as she needs her body to perform. One of her go-to meals? An acai bowl with whey protein, strawberries, blueberries, walnuts, and coconut flakes.
