Grammy award-winning recording artist Ciara chatted about her new single “Ecstasy,” the digital age, and the Why Not You Foundation.
American poet, memoirist, and civil rights activist Maya Angelou once said: “My mission in life is not merely to survive, but to thrive; and to do so with some passion, some compassion, some humor, and some style.” This quote applies to multifaceted entertainer Ciara.
‘Ecstasy’ single
On her latest single “Ecstasy,” she remarked, “It was really born out of a moment of freedom for me creatively. It’s about allowing yourself to feel, to let go, to embrace your femininity and power.”
“I worked with some amazing producers on it, and we really just vibed. The goal was to create something that felt like a fantasy but also real to my journey as a woman,” she noted.

‘Ecstasy remix’
Most recently, she released a remix of “Ecstasy,” where she joined forces with Normani and Teyana Taylor.
“Now, being able to release a remix of the song with Normani and Teyana added something so special to the record,” Ciara said.
Music and songwriting inspirations
Regarding her music and songwriting inspirations, she shared, “I pull a lot from real life, and I’ve always said that music is a way to tell my story and connect with people.”
“Empowerment, love, ambition, self-worth—those are themes that constantly inspire me,” she acknowledged.
“I also love movement, so a lot of my music starts with a rhythm or beat that makes me want to dance,” she added.
The digital age
On being an artist in the digital age, at a time when streaming, technology, and social media are so prevalent, she exclaimed, “The digital age is exciting to me.”
“Now, more than ever, artists can connect with fans directly. You can share a piece of your life and your music and get feedback in real time,” she noted.
“The digital age also makes the ability to share talent and music more accessible, and I love that for emerging artists as well. We can drop a song and see people vibing to it immediately around the world,” she elaborated.
Future plans
On her future plans, Ciara revealed, “Ever since I was a little girl I was always dreaming big and that hasn’t changed.”
“I am always excited about growing as an artist, as an entrepreneur, and continuing the work with the Why Not You Foundation that Russell and I started,” she said.
“I want to inspire people to believe they can do it all—because if it can happen then Why Not You?” she elaborated.
Why Not You Foundation
Russell Wilson and Ciara’s Why Not You Foundation, founded in 2014, is a nonprofit dedicated to fighting poverty through education, empowering youth to lead with a why not you attitude.
The foundation supports student access to equal education opportunities, children’s health and food security initiatives. Its mission is to equip today’s youth with the skills and opportunities to become tomorrow’s leaders.
“The ‘Why Not You Foundation’ is about empowering kids to believe in themselves, and its deeply personal to me because I know what it’s like to have a big dream and not always see the path clearly,” Ciara said.
“It’s something my husband, Russell, and I are passionate about doing together as a family. We want to show our kids the power of giving back,” she noted.
Career-defining moments
On her career-defining moments, she stated, “One of the biggest moments was stepping into ownership of my music and career—starting my own label. That was a huge shift for me.”
“Also, of course becoming a mom—it changed how I move in the world and my family and my faith have always defined who I am,” she explained.
Ciara defines Success
Regarding her definition of the word success, Ciara disclosed, “Success is doing what you love, staying true to who you are, and being able to lift others up along the way.”
“Success is about impact, legacy, and how you make people feel. And for me, being a good mom, a good partner, a person of faith—that’s the core of success,” she acknowledged.
Closing thoughts about her new music
For fans and listeners, Ciara remarked about her new music, “My new album ‘CiCi’ is me stepping into a new chapter. I’m so grateful for the love over the years, and I can’t wait for y’all to experience what’s coming. It’s all about leveling up again—together.”
