Ortaleza opened up about her wellness in this Instagram post. She says that she is no longer putting pressure on herself to accomplish things. She says that she is celebrating the small goals. “The past 6 months have tested me,” Ortaleza wrote. “You know the saying, ‘Aim for progress & not perfection?’ Well.. I have to keep repeating this to myself so that I can celebrate my small wins.”
In the same post, Ortaleza talked about what she did to get her gut healthy. She says that she got tests done, and removed the food that she had sensitivity to. “When the pandemic hit, all of us had to make really drastic adjustments. I noticed I would always have gut problems. Feeling acidic, problematic stools, dull pain on my side. So I took all the tests & scans I could take (you name it, I took it) and decided to also get to the root cause of my issues…The test revealed my intolerances. Gluten, Dairy, Eggs, Corn, etc.. I honestly felt sad because everything I used to eat & loved had all of this! I had to take them out of my system for 3-4 months! I had to reprogram for the best. I started eating what was right for my body.”
Ortaleza is also working through her mental health. She talked about it in her Instagram post. “I also learned that GRIEF & PTSD reflects on one’s body and I have to go through this to get through it. I am in the thick of this so please be kind. I lost so many loved ones.. and mourn for what we used to enjoy as beings. I have plenty of traumas that I am currently dissecting. Let’s all take it easy on each other. Most of the time what you see is never ever surface deep.”
Ortaleza makes sure to see doctors. She revealed in this Instagram post that she is getting mammograms done. “I made a very important appointment today & I am so happy I did! I was also able to convince my Mom to get her very first mammogram. I felt safe, welcome & the nurses and Doc Norman are real light workers. Good news! Both Mama and I are in the clear. I was also taught how to properly examine my breasts and was reminded to stay away from food that won’t help me & to manage my stress.”
Ortaleza makes sure to stay hydrated. She talked about the importance of it in this Instagram post. “Because my colon is anatomically unique, I need to commit to hydrating myself. 10-12 glasses daw po with a good diet to keep things happy & smooth. I like drinking hot water especially in the morning & after meals.”
