Even Stevens star Christy Carlson Romano is recovering after she was “shot in the eye” during a clay pigeon shooting outing to celebrate her husband’s birthday. The 40-year-old former child star was injured on Friday, February 7, she shared in an Instagram video the following day.

“So I got shot in the eye. It was not fun,” the actress quipped at the start of her video. Romano revealed the spot where the bullet struck her eye, explaining that a fragment remains embedded there, while another is lodged in her forehead. In the caption, she also shared that the fragment behind her eye cannot be surgically removed at this time due to the high risk involved.
“Doctors will continue to monitor me,” Romano added, noting her sight has been unaffected by the injury.
The Kim Possible voice actress was shot by a “another party” who “unsafely fired in the wrong direction,” she wrote in the caption of the post. “I was hit in 5 places, one was less than an inch from hitting me directly in my right eye.”
She also noted her husband, Brendan Rooney, “immediately sprung into action, assessed me, and rushed me to the hospital.”

“I’m very grateful to first responders as a whole,” Romano continued in the clip. “I mean, they’re just the most amazing superhero-like people to take care of us at our most desperate times.” She also gave a shout out to the hospital St. David’s Health in Austin.”
“This is really bad tonight,” Romano joked while gesturing at her injured mug. “Everything’s kind of clearing out. But, I get to say I got shot in the face and lived to tell the tale.”
Finally, the harrowing experience gave the former Disney star a new perspective on life. She ended the clip with some simple words of wisdom for anyone watching.
“Be grateful for every day,” Romano said.
Her husband praised Romano’s bravery in a comment on her social media post. “You are the bravest, toughest, most stoic and badass woman I have ever met. I am so thankful you are alive,” Rooney, a film producer wrote in part.
