Last week, Toni Cornell, daughter of the late Soundgarden and Audioslave singer Chris Cornell, teased the release of her debut single. Today (November, 21st) she has made good on that promise, dropping the song “Sunset of Your Love.”
Taking from both Lana Del Rey-esque baroque pop and the rock music her father was known for, “Sunset of Your Love” is a dramatic first taste of Toni’s original songwriting. There are wailing guitars, huge synth drops, a sequenced beat, and an impressive lead vocal performance. Listen to it below.
Though, technically, “Sunset of Your Love” isn’t the first track from Toni. Back in 2019, she shared a tune called “Far Away Places.”
In addition to her two original songs, Toni has performed several covers. She’s tackled Temple of the Dog’s “Hunger Strike,” Pearl Jam’s “Black,” Leonard Cohen’s “Hallelujah,” and Prince’s “Nothing Compares 2 U.” Notably, the latter was her father’s favorite song to cover.
As of now, there are no confirmed details for further new music from Toni. She did, however, share that “there’s a lot more where this came from” via her announcement post on Instagram.
