War is afoot in the new trailer for season two of the Game of Thrones prequel series, House of the Dragon, and it’s up to you to choose a side.
Max has released official “Dueling Trailers” for the new season of House of the Dragon — you can pick King Aegon’s Green trailer, or Queen Rhaenyra’s Black trailer. The Green trailer follows the newly crowned Aegon as he sits on the throne of the Seven Kingdoms, the need for vengeance against his half-sister Rhaenyra, and the impending war he’s launching to seal his succession as king. Meanwhile, the Black trailer shows Rhaenyra strongly claiming her birth rite to the throne, and, with dragons in tow, vowing to squash her half-brother’s opposition and take her place as Queen.
Both Rhaenyra and Aegon appear righteous and determined, attempting to recruit as many as they can to denounce the other and fight on their side. With the throne on the line, carnage is abound — but rest assured, as showrunner Ryan Condal told Deadline after season one’s finale, there will be no more time jumps: “These actors are playing these characters until the end.” Watch the official trailer below, which will direct you to watching Green or Black as it concludes.
Max initially shared a teaser trailer for House of the Dragon’s second season back in December, and announced this month that it would premiere in June 2024. In addition to multiple members of season one’s cast returning, House of the Dragon season two adds Gayle Rankin, Simon Russell Beale, Freddie Fox, and Abubakar Salim to the cast as Alys Rivers, Ser Simon Strong, Ser Gwayne Hightower, and Alyn of Hull, respectively.
House of the Dragon season two — which we named as one of the most anticipated TV shows of 2024 — will premiere on June 16th, 2024 on Max. Revisit Consequence’s review of season one, with Liz Shannon-Miller describing House of the Dragon as “a beautifully-made history lesson from an ugly fictional world.”
