Tom Hanks makes an appearance in the music video for his son Chet Hanks’ new country music song. The song, “You Better Run,” is performed by Hanks and Drew Arthur as a duo called Something Out West.
Not only does Tom Hanks appear in the video, but the music video for “You Better Run” features Chet Hanks recreating scenes from Forrest Gump, such as getting bullied and subsequently running away, and chatting to strangers on a park bench.
Tom Hanks won the Academy Award for Best Actor for his performance in Forrest Gump (which also won Best Picture, famously beating Pulp Fiction and The Shawshank Redemption), his second consecutive Best Actor win, having won the year prior for Philadelphia.
According to Variety, “Something Out West was formed after Chet Hanks and Drew Arthur were roommates in California while each began a new chapter of life towards sobriety, the friendship evolved into musical collaboration and songwriting sessions.”

“There’s a heartbreak girl close by — That’s right — You better run like the devil’s on your tail — Like you broke out of jail — Like a big storm’s coming — Run like a wild mustang — Like a bullet train — Let me tell you somethin’ — You’re running out of time on a tickin’ clock — She’ll be comin’ for you, there’s no time to walk,” Chet Hanks sings in the song.
