Priscilla Block took three extremely popular songs from Billie Eilish, Sabrina Carpenter and Gracie Abrams, smashed them together and gave them a hint of twang. The 29-year-old country music artist initially performed the unique mashup as part of her vocal warmups during sound check but it was such a big hit on social media that she added it to her set!
You won’t find a more seamless transition between three different songs outside of the genre.
Block, a country music singer from Raleigh, North Carolina, hit it big during the pandemic in 2020. Her biggest hit ‘Just About Over You’ went extremely viral on TikTok and reached the ears of music executives in Nashville. She signed a record deal with Mercury Nashville not long thereafter and peaked on the charts as high as No. 14.
Now five years later, Block already has two headlining tours under her belt. The ‘Block Party’ fan club gets bigger by the day.
As someone who lives in Music City, I have seen Priscilla Block perform live on a few different occasions. I had a lot of fun, but I am not the target audience for her music so I admittedly slept on her talent.
Not anymore! This new cover of Billie Eilish, Sabrina Carpenter and Gracie Abrams completely changed my view on the safety-vest-wearing, good-time-having, classic-country-sounding vocalist.
She starts with ‘Birds of a Feather,’ which seamlessly transitions into ‘Please, Please, Please,’ followed by ‘That’s So True.’ All three songs are obviously some of the biggest on the planet right now. Block adds her own style to it by breaking them down and throwing some drawl into the mix.
It has become a consistent part of her performances over the last few weeks that always gets a pop from the crowd.
And it sounds just as good (if not better) stripped down on the back of a tour bus without the full band!
Priscilla Block teased a potential studio version of the mashup, which would do numbers on streaming platforms everywhere. In the meantime, you can catch her out on tour and hear it live for yourself!
