Among the frozen western woods of Wisconsin, Charlie Hunnam crafts something diabolical in the new trailer for Ryan Murphy‘s Monster: The Ed Gein Story. A wizened narrator promises “something worse” in Season 3 of the anthology series, which returns to Netflix October 3rd.
Gein was a notorious serial killer and body snatcher whose experiments in human flesh led to some questionable fashion choices as well as multiple murder convictions. He was later found insane and would spend the rest of his life in a Madison mental institution. My grandfather — who is not in Ryan Murphy’s trailer but who was a farmer in Wisconsin — claimed to have met Gein. He said he remembered the man’s “ugly hat” for a few years before he learned what it was made from.
The trailer gives a few hints of — well, let’s call it leatherworking — as well as ghostly whispers of the kind of mother that might haunt such a man. Check it out below.
Monster began with the awkwardly titled and strangely compelling Dahmer – Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story. Season 4 has already been announced, and will reportedly feature the killer Lizzie Borden.
