On September 13, Sound Summit will return to Mill Valley, Calif. for its 10th anniversary staging. Produced since 2015 by Roots & Branches Conservancy–a San Francisco Bay Area-based nonprofit organization committed to preserving the region’s natural grandeur and cultural heritage–Sound Summit has become a beloved local institution for its environmental commitment and world-class musical guests. This year’s celebration upholds those traditions and looks back to its origins with a lineup topped by Cake, who took part in the 2013 Mount Tam Jam that inspired the event.

Set at the Mountain Theater on the slopes of Mount Tamalpais, Sound Summit honors its surroundings by donating all proceeds back to Mount Tamalpais State Park. With views of the mountain and the bay below, attendees can soak up the time-tested alt-rock of Cake, who recently confirmed their first album in 13 years, as well as indie rock powerhouses Alvvays and Real Estate and rising Northern California folk rockers Wolf Jett. At the heart of this year’s bill is “Stand!,” a supergroup celebration of Sly Stone; Sound Summit’s tribute to the Bay Area legend will feature blues icon Taj Mahal, storied fusion singer-songwriter Narada Michael Walden, Martin Luther McCoy, Vicki Randle, Rustee Allen, members of Graham Central Station and many more.

“We’re looking forward to another eclectic and memorable day on the mountain,” said founding producer Michael Nash. “We thought it would be cool to return to our roots for this benchmark and bring back CAKE to helm the event, and they’re psyched to return. Also, curating this Bay Area celebration of Sly’s legacy with music director Larry Batiste has been particularly joyful. The music and lyrics feel as resonant and topical today as when they were written.”

Tickets for Sound Summit 2025 will go on sale this Friday, June 6, at 10 a.m. PT. For more information, visit soundsummit.net.
