Burger King is adding a fan-favorite drink to the menu that McDonald’s customers have been waiting for after the Golden Arches only released it in one country.
Over the years, fast food restaurants have taken inspiration from each other when it comes to different menu items, of both the regular and limited-edition variety. This ‘inspiration’ has led to some iconic marketing campaigns too, with franchises looking to one-up each other at every turn.
With limited-edition items dropping off menus with increased regularity, it gives other restaurants the chance to scoop up where their rivals left off.
That has been the case with Burger King, as they’re re-launching the Frozen Cotton Candy Cloud drink after McDonald’s released their Cotton Candy Shake just in Canada.
Burger King brings back Cotton Candy Cloud drink
The McDonald’s shake had initially excited fans who were looking forward to getting a taste. However, when it only launched in Canada, customers in the US were disappointed.
“I can’t even get excited when you post anymore,” one fan posted on Snackolator’s Instagram post. “Oh cmon I thought this was a US addition. Where’s the Canada flag to indicate it’s Canada exclusive?????” another added.
However, many have been pleased by Burger King’s version, which is returning on July 14. “It’s soo good!” one fan commented. “They need to make these permanent, they’re the best drink burger king ever had,” another added.
McDonald’s has left the door open for the Cotton Candy Shake to appear on US menus as they didn’t confirm if it would be a Canadian exclusive. It did, however, come with the ‘at participating restaurants only’ clause.
It wouldn’t be the first, or last, unlaunched menu item that has caught the attention of fans on social media.
McDonald’s international menu at their Chicago headquarters has added Curly Fries, while Canadian stores have pizza bites.
