Tallulah Willis is speaking out after an Instagram post that included photos of her father, actor Bruce Willis, drew criticism.

On Monday, Tallulah Willis shared a carousel of photos showing Bruce Willis, who was diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia in 2023, at a family gathering.

In one of the images, Bruce and Tallulah Willis lean in for a hug. Another shows the “Die Hard” actor beaming as he poses with his daughter’s fiancé, musician Justin Acee.

As of Tuesday afternoon, Tallulah Willis’ post had received more than 18,000 likes, and drawn a plethora of supportive comments. Still, there were a number of dissenting opinions.

“I don’t think you should expose your dad to the public! He is vulnerable !” one person wrote, according to E! Online. “And some things should be kept private! You don’t have his permission to post it!”

Tallulah Willis responded to the criticism firmly, but thoughtfully.

“Hi. I hear that. As a family we use our discretion when posting,” the fashion designer, 31, wrote. “Today was a great day filled with smiles.”

She went on to note: “I made the judgment call to show that to the world, because I know what he means to everyone.”

In addition to Tallulah Willis, Bruce Willis and ex-wife Demi Moore share daughters Rumer Willis, 36, and Scout Willis, 33. He and his wife Emma Heming Willis are parents to daughters Mabel Willis, 13, and Evelyn Willis, 11.

Bruce Willis, whose Hollywood credits include “Pulp Fiction” and “The Sixth Sense,” retired from acting in 2022 after announcing he’d been diagnosed with aphasia, a condition that affects the ability to communicate. The following year, the actor’s family publicly confirmed his condition had progressed to frontotemporal dementia.

Since then, Willis’ family members have shared periodic updates on his health with fans. Earlier this month, Emma Heming Willis acknowledged Father’s Day by sharing an emotional tribute to her husband and other fathers “living with disability or disease.”

“What Bruce teaches our girls goes far beyond words. Resilience, unconditional love, and the quiet strength in simply being present,” she wrote on Instagram.“Love deepens. It adapts. It stays, even when everything else changes.”
