Bruce Springsteen Opens Halloween Show with "Ghostbusters"

Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band offered up a fun treat on Halloween night (October 31st), opening their show at the Bell Centre in Montreal with a cover of Ray Parker Jr.’s “Ghostbusters.”

Fan-filmed footage shows the band walking out onto the stage to the spooky instrumental intro of “Ghostbusters,” as Springsteen greeted the crowd with, “Hello, Montreal! Bonsoir!”

A moment later, drummer Max Weinberg launches the band into cover of the theme song to the classic 1984 movie by the same name. Springsteen sings the familiar lines, “If there’s something strange in your neighborhood/ Who you gonna call?,” as his backup singers and the audience respond with “Ghostbusters!”

The song plays perfectly to Springsteen’s current touring lineup, as the core E Street Band members are enhanced by an extended horn section and a handful of backup singers.

The Montreal show served as the kickoff to Springsteen’s fall tour of Canada, which runs through a November 22nd concert in Vancouver (pick up tickets here). Overall, Springsteen played a 29-song set in Montreal, including favorites like “Hungry Heart,” Thunder Road,” and “Born to Run.”

In recent days, Springsteen has performed at a couple of campaign events for Kamala Harris. And last week, his documentary Road Diary began streaming on Hulu and Disney+.
