Pop star Britney Spears and actor Sam Asghari are on the fast track to settling their divorce.
On Friday, October 27, The Blast broke the news that a court had ordered both the 29-year-old actor and the 41-year-old pop star to divorce or warned that it would be dismissed. This happens incredibly rarely and gave fans hope that the two might reconcile their romance. The two had met on the set of her “Slumber Party” music video in 2016 and tied the knot in June 2022, months after her controversial 13-year conservatorship ended in November 2021.
Sam Agshari Is Completing The Final Steps To Finalize His Divorce From Britney Spears
According to legal documents obtained by The Blast, on February 1, Sam handed over his financial statements and other documents to move the divorce process along. Some of these documents include a declaration of income and expenses, as well as a list of assets and separate and community properties.
The filing, known as a declaration of disclosure, is the final step before settling a divorce.
The 42-year-old pop star has not spoken much about her divorce on Instagram, as she is currently embroiled in a feud with her ex-boyfriend, Justin Timberlake. The “Toxic” singer had a harsh response to the “Cry Me A River” crooner after he said that he had “nobody” to apologize to during a performance in New York City on January 31.
Sam Asghari Listed The Date Of Separation As July 28, 2023
On August 16, 2023, the “Special Ops: Lioness” filed for divorce from the “Oops!… I Did It Again” singer citing irreconcilable differences as the reason for the split, according to court documents obtained by The Blast. The actor listed July 28, 2023, as the date of separation on the court documents in addition to demanding spousal support and attorneys fees.
Sam secured attorney Neal Hersh while Britney immediately lawyered up with Laura Wasser. Although Britney’s attorney, Mathew Rosengart, had hired a family lawyer to draft a prenup before the wedding, a source told Page Six in August that the 29-year-old actor was reportedly “attempting to negotiate concessions beyond his prenup and threatening to go public with extraordinarily embarrassing information about Britney unless he gets paid.”
However, the day after he filed for divorce, a rep for the actor, Brandon Cohen, told The Hollywood Reporter that Sam had no intention of challenging the prenup.
“There are many claims that Sam is challenging the prenup and threatening to exploit his ex-wife with videos,” Cohen stated. “However, all these claims are false, as no negative intention has ever been directed towards her and never will be. Sam has always and will always support her.”
Two days after he filed for divorce, Sam took to his Instagram Stories to make an official statement. “After 6 years of love and commitment to each other my wife and I have decided to end our journey together,” he wrote. “We will hold onto the love and respect we have for each other and I wish her the best always. S— happens. Asking for privacy seems [ridiculous] so I will just ask for everyone including media to be kind and thoughtful.”
Britney released her own statement a day later in the caption of an Instagram post that featured her dancing in her living room. “As everyone knows, Hesam and I are no longer together … 6 years is a long time to be with someone so, I’m a little shocked but … I’m not here to explain why because it’s honestly nobody’s business !!! But, I couldn’t take the pain anymore honestly !!!” she wrote.
“In some sort of telepathic way I have been receiving so many messages that melt my heart from friends and I thank you !!!” she continued. “I’ve been playing it strong for way too long and my Instagram may seem perfect but it’s far from reality and I think we all know that !!!”
She wrapped up her post, writing, You’re supposed to be loved unconditionally … not under conditions !!!! So I will be as strong as I can and do my best !!! And I’m actually doing pretty d— good !!! Anyway have a good day and don’t forget to smile !!!”
Britney Spears and Sam Asghari Settle Custody Over Their Dogs
Although the two are still hashing out the details of their divorce, at least one matter has already been settled. In late August, the two settled the custody dispute over their five dogs. As per our report, Sam will keep their Doberman, Porsha, even though he had initially given the dog to Britney as an engagement gift in October 2021.
However, Britney will be able to keep four of her other dogs: her Australian Shepherd, Sawyer, her Yorkie, Hannah, her Maltese, Lulu, and another small dog. The custody agreement might be referring to her puppy Snow, whom she introduced to Instagram a day later. The agreement also made no mention of her cat, Wendy.
Fortunately, Porsha is not very far away. As reported by Page Six, the actor has moved into a Los Angeles high-rise apartment amid the split. The lavish dwellings contain a full bar, a lap pool, a private park, and even on-call doctors. A source told the outlet that Sam has “been friendly with the residents’ and “has been with his sister a lot” amid the divorce. The dwelling costs $10,000, which, as of right now, is being paid by the Princess of Pop. It remains to be seen if his future rent will be covered in their divorce agreement.
