SIR Michael Caine is to come out of retirement for a new Netflix series — months after he quit films.
The actor, 90, quit in October saying he could not beat the roles he had played across 70 years.
But he has joined a show filming next month.
An insider said: “He’s been asked to star in a Netflix series. Details are kept closely guarded.”
The Oscar, Golden Globe and Bafta-winning actor has appeared in more than 160 films over a career that has spanned seven decades.
He has starred in films ranging from classics Zulu and The Italian Job to Interstellar and The Dark Knight franchise more recently.
In his most recent film, The Great Escaper, which was released on October 6, he plays real-life World War Two veteran Bernie Jordan who escaped from a care home to attend D-Day celebrations in France.
Sir Michael said he had turned the film down three times before accepting the role as he already considered himself retired.
Earlier this year, Sir Michael told the BBC: “I keep saying I’m going to retire. Well I am now.”
