Bree Turner is hiking in her workout gear. In a new social media post the Grimm star shows off her fit figure during a serious hiking adventure in the mountains. “Slay,” commented one of her followers. “By the way, you’re still beautiful,” added another. How does the actress approach diet, fitness, and self-care? Here is everything you need to know about her lifestyle habits.
Bree meal preps to ensure healthy eating. For example, she cooks a huge batch of whole-wheat noodles on Sunday, then uses them to create meals throughout the week. “I keep the freezer stocked with organic frozen veggies, and I’ll cook them on low with some olive oil,” Turner told Women’s Running. “It’s basic, but it’s also healthy and yummy. I find that simplifying my life instead of having unrealistic expectations makes me feel more successful.”
Bree goes for runs every day. Her workout routine is mostly pounding the pavement in her neighborhood for 30 to 45 minutes. According to the Mayo Clinic, running is great for cardiovascular health, muscle building, and weight loss. “For every mile run, the average person will burn approximately 100 calories,” they say.
Bree is a fan of Pilates, but says “it’s really hard to find the time to actually make it to a class.” Why is pilates a good workout? According to the Mayo Clinic there are lots of benefits to the workout, as it “strengthens the body’s inner core while increasing its flexibility resulting in improved overall health.” It can also promote longer, leaner muscles, injury prevention, relief from stress and back pain, enhanced athletic performance, and heightened mind-body awareness.
Bree also hits the slopes regularly. “Skiing with my family,” she captioned one of many social media posts devoted to the winter sport. Research has linked downhill skiing to a number of health benefits. In addition to promoting physical fitness, it may decrease risk of cardiovascular and metabolic diseases. Studies have also found that the more frequently a person skis, prevalence of known hypercholesterolemia, systemic hypertension, diabetes, the frequency of mental stress and the occurrence of memory deficits declines.
In her latest post, Bree goes for a hike. According to the National Parks Service, the physical benefits of hiking include:
- Building stronger muscles and bones
- Improving your sense of balance
- Improving your heart health
- Decreasing the risk of certain respiratory problems
