Tom Holland has unveiled his new Spidey suit for his return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe in next year’s Spider-Man: Brand New Day. After teasing the look on August 1st (officially recognized as Spider-Man Day to mark the characters 1962 debut), a video showing Holland in the full costume — sans mask — has now been shared.
With bright blue accents and a large spider insignia on the chest, the Spider-Man: Brand New Day suit appears much closer to the character’s classic comic book duds than seen in previous MCU entries. In the film series, Peter Parker gets an advanced suit from mentor Tony Stark pretty much right off the bat. The suit got upgraded throughout his appearances, culminating in the “Iron Spider” look in Avengers: Endgame and Spider-Man: No Way Home. However, No Way Home ended with Spidey returning to an unknown quantity with a homemade outfit, and that looks to be carrying over to the new film.
It’s worth noting that the previously released closeup teaser shows raised webbing, a look popularized by Sam Raimi and Tobey Maguire’s iconic take on the hero.
More Spider-News also broke this week when it was revealed that Mark Ruffalo would be reprising his MCU role as the Hulk in Brand New Day. What’s more, Michael Mando (Better Call Saul) will reportedly be returning for the first time since 2017’s Spider-Man: Homecoming. In that movie, he played Mac Gargan, whom comic fans know well as the villain Scorpion. It’s safe to say Spider-Man will have his hands full with no only the Hulk and Scorpion, but Jon Bernthal’s the Punisher as well.
