Bradley Cooper famously channeled Eddie Vedder for his performance as Jackson Maine in the 2018 film, A Star Is Born. In something of a full circle moment, Vedder’s Pearl Jam welcomed Cooper to the stage during the band’s headlining performance at BottleRock Napa Valley on Saturday.
In introducing Cooper, Vedder told the crowd: “There was an absolutely beautiful film a few years ago about a singer/songwriter named Jackson Maine. In the end of the film, he passes away, and it’s brutal and very powerful and very moving. But tonight is a very special occasion, because he is coming back to life. Please, would you join me in welcoming to the stage, my great, great pal Bradley Cooper.”
Cooper initially joined Vedder to perform “Maybe It’s Time,” the Jason Isbell-penned song from the A Star Is Born soundtrack. Later, the Academy Award-nominated actor returned to the stage for the set closing performance of “Rockin’ in the Free World.”
Pearl Jam will close out their spring North American tour with a pair of hometown shows in Seattle next week. They’ll then head to the UK and Europe for a run of concerts, before returning to the states for a late summer leg of dates along the east coast, as well as a headlining appearance at Vedder’s annual Ohana Fest.
