Brad Pitt is reportedly “devastated” after his 18-year-old daughter, Shiloh, recently filed to drop his last name.
The Fight Club star perceives the teenager’s legal action as “more than just a name change,” a source informed Us Weekly on Wednesday.
“It was a symbol of a deeper estrangement that has been brewing for years,” the source insisted. Meanwhile, a second insider told the outlet that Pitt is “finding it extremely difficult to come to terms with” the name drop.
A third insider mentioned that Pitt’s children don’t have a strong relationship with their father, who is “not ready to give up on them.”
On May 27, Shiloh marked her 18th birthday by filing to legally drop “Pitt” from her name. To add insult to injury, Shiloh reportedly hired her own lawyer to oversee the proceedings.
While the name change is still pending approval, she reportedly intends to adopt “Shiloh Jolie” as her new moniker.
Shiloh Joins Some of Her Siblings in Dropping Brad Pitt’s Last Name
However, Shiloh isn’t the only one of Brad Pitt’s children to drop his last name. Zahara has also removed “Pitt” from hers. During an introduction ceremony at Spelman College in Atlanta, Georgia, after joining the Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority, she introduced herself as “Zahara Marley Jolie.”
Last month, Pitt and Jolie’s daughter, Vivienne, was notably credited as “Vivienne Jolie” in “The Outsiders” Playbill. However, it remains uncertain whether the 15-year-old has legally changed her name.
In 2021, reports indicated that Maddox, then 22, had removed Pitt from his last name on informal documents. Angelina was reportedly not in favor of his decision to legally change his name.
However, Shiloh is set to be the first of Angelina and Brad’s children to take the official step of filing court documents to legally change her last name.
In addition to Maddox, Zahara, Shiloh, and Vivienne, the former couple also has two sons: 20-year-old Pax and 15-year-old Knox.
Brad and Angelina began dating in 2005 after co-starring in Mr. & Mrs. Smith. Their relationship spanned 12 years, including two years of marriage, before Jolie filed for divorce in 2016, seeking sole custody of their children. They were declared legally single in 2019, although their divorce proceedings remain ongoing.
