Boxer Katie Taylor in Two-Piece Workout Gear is an "Icon"

Katie Taylor is a successful boxer. She is considered one of the greatest female boxers of all time. Taylor recently celebrated her anniversary in the scene, and Matchroom Boxing shared a video of her on Instagram for this occasion. They captioned it, “Boxing took hold of your heart and you took hold of ours. A history maker in and out of the ring. Greatness personified. Continuing to break down barriers and inspire those around the world. The @katie_t86 journey as a professional started #OnThisDay in 2016 and here is a look-back at her first promo heading into that monumental occasion. Thank you for the memories and here is to many more. True legend and icon.”

Taylor talked about her boxing journey in an interview with Women’s Health. She says that working hard is one of the reasons for her success. “You get out what you put in, so for me, it’s really just been a lot of sacrifice and consistent hard work over the years. I think that’s the key to being successful at anything; just keep turning up and keep putting the work in even on the days when you don’t feel like it, those are the most important days.”

Taylor revealed to Women’s Health that her family is extremely supportive of her career. “My family have been my biggest supporters throughout my career, and I definitely wouldn’t be where I am today without them. They never miss a fight. They have been there from the very start, through all the highs and lows and I know their support is unconditional. It’s so important to have that support around you and to have people that care about you who can lift you up when you’re at your lowest point.”

Taylor makes sure to workout on a regular basis. She broke down her training routine to Women’s Health. “No two weeks are the same, as throughout a training camp you focus on different things as the camp progresses, but it’s always two sessions a day, six days a week. I will usually spar every second day and then Sunday is my day off. After a fight I will generally take a couple of days off but I get itchy feet very quickly, so normally by the Tuesday after a fight I’m back in the gym.”

Taylor opened up about her diet in her Women’s Health interview. She says that she makes sure to eat healthy, and doesn’t pressure herself too much. “I usually have porridge in the morning, and I’m a terrible cook so I tend to eat out for lunch and dinner. I don’t really have any set meal plan that I stick to or anything. For me, it’s just about being sensible; trying to eat as healthy as possible but still enjoying what I eat. I am a chocaholic though!”

Taylor does a lot of different workouts to keep herself in shape. She talked about her favorite exercises in an interview with The Mac Life. “In the mornings I could be doing a running session or a weights session or a pads session in my gym in Bray. In the evenings, I am in the ring in the gym sparring and doing technical work as well as punching the bags. The two sessions are very high intensity. Each session would last around one-and -a-half to two hours. So I am training four hours a day between either bags, cardio or a strength session. We have to do a bit of everything in boxing and every session is very different.”
