Kamala Harris is set to hold a rally in Eau Claire, Wisconsin on Wednesday, August 7th with her to-be-announced running mate. Not only that, but she’ll be joined by Eau Claire natives Bon Iver, who will perform at the event.
The rally will is the second stop on Harris’ “Battleground State Tour,” which will begin in Philadelphia on Tuesday. She and her running mate are also expected to hit cities in Wisconsin, Michigan, North Carolina, Georgia, Arizona, and Nevada in the coming days.
Harris has already made music a major aspect to her campaign, recruiting Megan Thee Stallion and Quavo to speak at her recent rally in Atlanta, embracing Charli XCX’s Brat endorsement, and soundtracking her stump speeches with Beyoncé’s “Freedom.”
As for Bon Iver, the band previously played at several rallies and fundraisers on behalf for Bernie Sanders when he ran for president in 2016 and 2020. More recently, the band participated in a non-partisan initiative in 2022 called For Wisconsin, which encouraged young people to get more engaged in the political process.
Bon Iver’s last album was 2019’s i,i, but Justin Vernon and co. have kept busy since then, playing stretches of shows throughout the last two years and collaborating with Taylor Swift, Zach Bryan, and The National. Their appearance at Harris’ rally in Eau Claire will mark their first live performance in 2024.
