Bodybuilder Melina Keltaniemi in Two-Piece Workout Gear is "Enjoying Life"

Melina Keltaniemi, a celebrated bodybuilder, shared a reflective post on Instagram revisiting her activities in June. The post included throwback photos and videos showcasing her diverse fitness regimen—from intense gym workouts in stylish workout gear to serene hikes in nature. She also highlighted her balanced dietary choices with visuals of nutritious meals like quinoa with veggies. Keltaniemi’s post, simply captioned “June,” encapsulates her holistic approach to fitness, blending physical training with outdoor activities and mindful eating. This blend not only enhances her physical strength but also contributes to her overall well-being, illustrating her commitment to a well-rounded lifestyle that inspires her followers.

As you can see from her Instagram post, Keltaniemi likes to go for hikes to stay in shape. Piedmont reports that hiking has a lot of benefits. “It is a joint-friendly form of exercise that can keep arthritis sufferers more limber and mobile. Being outside in the sunshine provides the body with vitamin D. For those with type 2 diabetes, hiking can possibly reduce, or even eliminate, your need for insulin. Talk with your doctor about how exercise may reduce your need for medication. Hiking offers psychological benefits, often contributing to a feeling of relaxation and enhanced well-being.”

In her Instagram post, Keltaniemi is seen enjoying a bowl of quinoa with veggies. Quinoa is a very healthy food. The Cleveland Clinic states, “Quinoa is a nutrient-dense food, meaning ounce for ounce, you get high amounts of vitamins and minerals. By contrast, foods that are considered nutrient-poor, like fried foods or processed snacks, tend to be high in calories without a lot of nutritional value. One cup of cooked quinoa contains: 222 calories. 8 grams of protein. 5.2 grams of fiber, 20% of your recommended daily value.”

Keltaniemi likes to lift weights to keep herself in shape. She shared this video on Instagram of herself doing squats with a barbell. ACE Fitness reports that adding a weight to exercises has a lot of benefits. “Lifting heavy weights elevates levels of anabolic hormones—specifically testosterone, growth hormone and insulin-like growth factor (IGF-1)—which are used to repair muscle fibers damaged during exercise. This helps the muscle fibers to become thicker and capable of generating higher levels of force.”

Keltaniemi is seen doing squats in the previous Instagram video. Piedmont reports that the exercise has a lot of benefits. “Squats are a compound, multi-joint movement, which means they exercise several muscle groups. When you perform a squat, you work your calves, quads, hamstrings, glutes, core and part of your back. A squat has more overall benefits than, say, a bicep curl, which strengthens an isolated area.”

Keltaniemi does Pilates to keep herself in shape. She shared this video on Instagram of herself using a reformer. Keltaniemi captioned the post, “One of the best decisions I’ve made was to start Pilates, in terms of my body’s function, control, balance and also appearance! It has opened a lot of eyes to the human body and how it functions. How important it is to ALL of us! And how EVERY athlete would take full advantage of it. 🙌🏽The first season of spring just ended and today started a new one with a new program and oh yeah I’m excited about it! 💥💪🏽”
