A celebration of Saturday Night Live requires at least one game show parody sketch, and before the first half hour of SNL50: The Anniversary Special was up, we got to “Black Jeopardy,” featuring Kenan Thompson, Leslie Jones, Tracy Morgan, and Eddie Murphy… as Tracy Morgan.
Murphy proceeds to deliver a pitch-perfect Morgan impression, ranting about his refusal to eat any lasagna with three or fewer cheeses and declaring that James Earl Jones was his biological father. Jones fully breaks over teh The sketch also spent an extended amount of time covering how the show might be less familiar to Black audiences than white, as a question asking the contestants to name a late-night sketch comedy show that aires live on Saturdays led to answers like Soul Train and In Living Color.
The sketch also features Chris Rock (the actual Rock as himself, something this article does actually have to confirm) tagging in for a question, as well as the return of Tom Hanks as Doug, whose “Black Jeopardy” sketch is an all-timer.
