Eilish talked about growing up in the public eye to Rolling Stone. She says that she wants to be open about her romantic life. “My experience as a woman has been that it’s seen in such a weird way. People are so uncomfortable talking about it, and weirded out when women are very comfortable in their sexuality and communicative in it. I think it’s such a frowned-upon thing to talk about, and I think that should change. You asked me what I do to decompress? That shit can really, really save you sometimes, just saying. Can’t recommend it more, to be real.”
Eilish tells Rolling Stone that she doesn’t want to let the world dictate who she is. “The whole world suddenly decided who I was, and I didn’t get to say anything or control any of it. Nobody should be pressured into being one thing or the other, and I think that there’s a lot of wanting labels all over the place. Dude, I’ve known people that don’t know their sexuality, or feel comfortable with it, until they’re in their forties, fifties, sixties. It takes a while to find yourself, and I think it’s really unfair, the way that the internet bullies you into talking about who you are and what you are.”
Eilish tells Rolling Stone that she is passionate about helping the environment. “I have never had an interest in being a role model, ever,” she says. “If you’re going to think I’m a role model, think I’m a role model in terms of trying to save the environment, and being more conscious of the way that you live, and your carbon footprint, and your contribution to animal agriculture.”
Eilish talked about the importance skin-care has to her to Vogue. “I have to do a skin-care routine every single night. For me, I find a lot of peace in it and it brings me back down to myself; I feel like a person when I do it. Taking care of your skin is so, so important just as a person. There is no gender to it.”
Eilish revealed to Apple Music that fitness is a lot more important in her life. She says that a recent injury made her realize this. “It started with ‘I can’t get injured anymore, can’t do it, not going to let myself live like that.’ Because I lived like that for years. I know that’s something a lot of people do, but that was not a thing I did. And it’s become such an incredibly huge part of my life and it makes me feel so much better as a person and the way that I can move on stage now, I feel so much better.”
Eilish revealed to Allure that she is avoiding pain in her life. “When you know all of it, then you can have a sense of control about it. And once you know, you can heal from that. Then I’m invincible! But what I’ve learned…is that time goes by, and I’m still scarred. You don’t have to push into pain to get out of pain. I’ve done that, and I don’t want to do it again.”
Eilish revealed to Allure that she is a lot more open to changing her life. “When I was 17, I was like, I found it. I found the person I am, forever. This is how I’m going to do it. I found all the ways! These are my boundaries. These are the things that make me happy, and this is my recipe for how I’m going to make music and be happy. Then I grew up a little, and suddenly life was like, ‘These aren’t going to work. You’ve got to change. You’re not that person anymore.'”
