Since being diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia in 2022, iconic actor Bruce Willis has receded from the public eye. Despite this, friends of his such as Bill Murray are clearly still thinking about him.
Bill Murray is out on the promotional trail selling his new movie The Friend, resulting in the comedy legend appearing on a handful of late-night shows, podcasts, etc. Earlier this week, he joined Bravo’s Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen.
While Murray was ranking the Wes Anderson films he’s appeared in, he made his way to 2012’s Moonrise Kingdom, which he co-starred in alongside Bruce Willis.
In the midst of his thoughts on his films, Murray remembered that Willis recently celebrated his 70th birthday — members of his family such as ex-wife Demi Moore shared heartwarming photos and videos of the occasion — and went off on a touching tangent about how much of a ‘good f—— guy’ Willis was.
Editor’s Note: Murray likely says ‘was’ because a diagnosis of frontotemporal dementia can lead to changes in behavior, personality, emotions, and difficulties with speech.
“Bruce Willis is a good guy. He is a good f—— guy. He was a good friend,” Murray recalled to Andy Cohen on his late-night Bravo show Watch What Happens Live.
“He was also a page at NBC when I was on Saturday Night Live. His job was to come and refill, and this sounds insane, but his job was to come and go to the dressing rooms and refill the M&Ms and pretzels and snacks in the actors’ dressing rooms. I remember when I met him after he was already a successful guy he said to me, ‘You and Gilda were nice to me.’ I always thought I am good with this guy.”
The below video has been queued up to begin with Murray’s comments about Willis.
In addition to The Friend, Murray will also be starring in Wes Anderson’s new movie The Phoenician Scheme alongside Benicio del Toro, Mia Threapleton, Michael Cera, Tom Hanks, Bryan Cranston, Riz Ahmed, Jeffrey Wright, Scarlett Johansson, Rupert Friend, Hope Davis, and Benedict Cumberbatch, which hits theaters on May 30.
