Bill Burr is having one of the biggest moments of his career, as the release of his new stand-up special Drop Dead Years came in tandem with the comedian and actor making his Broadway debut on a revival of Glengarry Glen Ross alongside the likes of Bob Odenkirk, Michael McKean (who played Chuck on Better Call Saul opposite Odenkirk), and newly-crowned Academy Award winner Kieran Culkin.
Given that this is such a massive moment in Bill Burr’s career, the 56-year-old has been doing tons of media amidst his promotional tour, leading to a cavalcade of classic Burr quotes, such as desire to see greedy billionaires put down like dogs and slamming Elon Musk for being a Nazi.
In a recent profile interview with GQ, Burr continued to let his opinions fly, this time taking aim at cable news networks like Fox News and MSNBC, who he accused of being treasonous.
“In conversation, Burr veers into topical cul-de-sacs about the ills of society, venting his myriad of beliefs about the damaging impacts of the American health insurance system, tobacco companies, two-party politics, and the kind of cable news that Burr deems ‘treasonous,’ because their ‘moneymaking is dividing us’ to the point where Burr fears civil war,” GQ’s Anna Peele writes.
“’We’ve been there, done that. A lot of people died. I mean, it was necessary, I guess, but I don’t know why it always comes to that. You couldn’t just have a discussion? ‘Slavery, it kind of seems like it’s a bad thing to do.’ All of a sudden it’s like, ‘Well, all right, let’s start killing each other, and whoever kills the most, that’s the direction we’re going to go in.’”
Burr’s latest special Drop Dead Years, which released on Hulu on Friday, March 14 (his first on Hulu, with all of his previous taped specials streaming on Netflix), certainly doesn’t shy away from political topics, as he also discussed the war between Israel and Palestine, taking aim at both sides of the ongoing conflict.

Drop Dead Years is now streaming on Hulu, while Glengarry Glen Ross began previews on Monday, March 10 ahead of its highly-anticipated (as evidenced by its $286 get-in price) opening night on March 31.
