Big Thief Unveil New Songs "Los Angeles" and "Grandmother"

Big Thief are back with two new songs, “Los Angeles” and “Grandmother.” The tracks are the latest singles from the band’s upcoming sixth studio album, Double Infinity, set for a September 5th release via 4AD. Stream them below.

Featuring ambient musician Laraaji on backing vocals and zither, the emotive “Grandmother” is the first Big Thief song written by all three band members together. The six-minute meditation looks at “generational love and pain,” according to a press release.”

Meanwhile, “Los Angeles” is a heart-wrenching lament chronicling past lovers finding their way to becoming friends, with Adrianne Lenker singing, “I’ll follow you forever/ Even without looking/ You call, we come together.”

The new singles follow the summery “All Night All Day,” which the band shared last month. Back in June, they revealed the album’s lead single, “Incomprehensible.”

Big Thief will follow the September 5th release of Double Infinity by embarking on the first leg of a 2025 tour, dubbed the “Somersault Slide 360 Tour.” The dates begin on September 17th in Sacramento, California, with stops in Berkeley, Portland, Boston, New Orleans, and more before wrapping things up in Houston on November 7th.
