Ahead of the Madame Web release from Marvel where Dakota Johnson stars as the eponymous character alongside Sydney Sweeney who will appear as Julia Carpenter, Dakota Johnson found time to host SNL for her second time.
Dakota Johnson’s episode of SNL from this past weekend scored a modest 5.4/10 rating on IMDB but the haters appear to have been out in full because there were some absolute gems to be found including a roast battle with the ‘Please Don’t Destroy’ guys (Ben Marshall, John Higgins, and Martin Herlihy).
This sketch alone made Dakota’s second SNL stint a success in the eyes of many:
Shout out to the deprecating humor on ‘Nepo Truce.’ Dakota Johnson is the daughter of Hollywood A-Listers Don Johnson and Melanie Griffith. John Higgins of ‘Please Don’t Destroy’ is the son of Steve Higgins who was a Writer/Producer for SNL and Jimmy Fallon. And Martin Herlihy is the son of Tim Herlihy who was Adam Sandler’s writing partner on countless films including Billy Madison, Happy Gilmore, and most of Sandler’s other hits.
Not to be lost in the shuffle of sketches was this takedown of Stanley Cups, the latest ‘big dumb cup’ craze to hit America:
Not every episode can be a hit from start to finish. But when the musical guest is Justin Timberlake and he revives the ‘The Barry Gibb Talk Show’ with Jimmy Fallon it’s a pretty good night on SNL:
As for Marvel’s Madame Web starring Dakota Johnson. It comes out on Valentine’s Day and Sydney Sweeney is Hollywood’s ‘it girl’ right now. I’ve heard rumblings that it has ‘so bad it’s good’ potential but it remains to be seen.
