The three year wait for the second season of the hit AppleTV+ series Severance has proven to be worth it, as the show not only as a 98% critics score on Rotten Tomatoes, but fans have also been loving the first two episodes that have been released.

Despite the fact that there are likely millions of satisfied Severance fans out there, however, director Ben Stiller spent the weekend singling out the haters by replying to their critical tweets on social media.

It was certainly a shrewd move by Stiller, as his replies to negative Severance tweets became marketing for the show in and of itself.

Season two of Severance will consist of 10 episodes, with new episodes being released on AppleTV+ on Fridays. The show stars Adam Scott, Zach Cherry, Britt Lower, Tramell Tillman, Jen Tullock, Dichen Lachman, Michael Chernus, John Turturro, Christopher Walken, and Patricia Arquette.

While Severance has yet to be officially renewed for a third season by Apple, its massive success — data from entertainment analytic firm Parrott Analytics indicate the series has earned over $200 million for the streamer — it’s a matter of “when,” not “if.” The nine-episode first season of Severance and the first two episodes of season two are now streaming on AppleTV+. Episode 3 will begin streaming on Friday, January 31 at 12 a.m. EST.

In addition to a bulk of the episodes of Severance, Stiller has also previously directed the films Reality Bites, The Cable Guy, Zoolander (and its sequel), Tropic Thunder, and The Secret Life of Walter Mitty, and the 2018 Showtime series Escape at Dannemora.

Late last year, he also starred in the movie Nutcrackers, which was his first starring role in a feature film since 2017’s The Meyerowitz Stories. Next year, he’ll also appear in Happy Gilmore 2 and star in te pickleball comedy The Dink.
