While Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez’s romantic relationship is no more, their professional one remains, as Affleck’s production company has produced two of Lopez’ upcoming movies, including one that’s set to release in the coming months.
Later this year, Jennifer Lopez will be starring in the film Unstoppable as the mother of one-legged NCAA champion wrestler Anthony Robles, who won the 2011 NCAA individual wrestling national championship in the 125-pound weight class while attending Arizona State University.
Due to Ben Affleck’s role as a producer on the film, he was recently asked about Lopez’s performance in the project, prompting his first public comments about his ex-wife since she filed for divorce in August.
Asked by Entertainment Tonight about Lopez’s performance in the film, Affleck simply responded by saying: “Jennifer is spectacular.”
Alongside Lopez, Unstoppable also stars Jharrel Jerome as Robles, the former NCAA title-winning wrestler, Bobby Cannavale, Don Cheadle, and Michael Pena.
After premiering at the Toronto International Film Festival back in September, Unstoppable will be released in limited theaters on December 6 before it begins streaming on Prime Video on January 16, 2025.
Unstoppable is the sixth release from Affleck and Matt Damon’s production company Artists Equity, which has also produced Air, Kiss the Future, The Greatest Love Story Never Told (Lopez’s movie that accompanied her 2024 album), The Instigators (which Damon starred in alongside Casey Affleck), and the upcoming Cillian Murphy film Small Things Like These.
Upcoming releases from Artists Equity include a remake of Kiss of the Spider Woman, which will also star Lopez and a sequel to Affleck’s 2016 action thriller The Accountant.
As for Affleck, production on The Accountant 2 — which also sees Jon Bernthal, J.K. Simmons, and Cynthia Addai-Robinson reprising their role from the original — wrapped production in August and is set to hit theaters on April 25, 2025.
