Earlier this month, we brought you the report that Ben Affleck was, according to an alleged inside source, “uncomfortable” with being Jennifer Lopez’s “muse” for her recent This Is Me… Now album, accompanying feature film, and behind-the-scenes documentary.
Now, however, conflicting reports from other apparent inside sources — likely those on Jennifer Lopez’s side in an effort to spin the narrative — suggest that one of those projects, the documentary The Greatest Love Story Never Told was “insisted on” by Ben Affleck, who also had creative control over the project.
The documentary, released on Prime Video on February 27, was produced by Affleck’s production company Artists Equity, which he co-founded with his longtime friend Matt Damon.
“‘He was the one who had control, pretty much,’ a source says of Affleck, according to People. ‘[Affleck] was very much in favor [of the project], and he was a driving force for [Lopez] to do the movie and the album and then he insisted on the documentary, where it looked like he was hesitant and almost surprised by it, but that was a false narrative.’”
“The documentary was Ben’s idea for his company, Artists Equity. Jennifer’s team didn’t want to do it since she was focused on the album and Amazon original video project.”

In addition to producing The Greatest Love Story Never Told, Artists Equity is also producing both of Lopez’s next two films: Unstoppable and Kiss of the Spider Woman.
Unstoppable, in fact, is set to premiere in September at the Toronto International Film Festival, with reports indicating that while Lopez and Affleck will be in attendance, Affleck will not. Lopez co-stars in the film alongside Jharrel Jerome, Bobby Cannavale, Michael Peña, and Don Cheadle.
Affleck and Lopez officially filed for divorce on August 20, 2024, just over two years after the pair got married in Las Vegas in July 2022.
