Ben Affleck Has Reportedly ‘Not Been in Touch’ With Jennifer Lopez’s Kids

Prior to filing for divorce, Lopez was seen hanging out with Affleck’s kids on multiple occasions; however, according to a report, Affleck has not been in touch with the singer’s children “in a long time.”

Sources close to Jennifer Lopez have also revealed that she attempted to salvage their relationship, but Ben Affleck “has a darkness to him.”

In her divorce filing, Lopez noted that she and Affleck officially went their separate ways on April 26, and according to a new report, the actor has “not been in touch” with his wife’s kids since that date.

Lopez shares 16-year-old twins Max and Emme with her ex-husband, Marc Anthony, while Affleck shares kids, Violet, 18, Fin (Seraphina), 15, and Samuel, 12, with his ex-wife, Jennifer Garner.

A source told People Magazine how odd it was that Lopez always talked about how good a dad Affleck was, and yet he has not seen her kids for a long time, even though she is very close to his.

“[Jennifer] went out there and told the world what a great dad he was,” the source said. “The fact that he has not seen her kids in a long time, it’s like he left, but she is especially close to his kids.”

Noting how good a mom Lopez is, the source stated that Lopez also stays in contact with Marc Anthony’s kids from his previous relationship.

“But she’s also close to Marc’s kids from [his] previous relationship,” they said, adding, “She keeps in touch with the children, and she’s a good mom.”

According to Page Six, an insider shared that the “Atlas” actress was willing to work through their issues to prevent their marriage from failing, but Affleck’s “darkness” proved too much to overcome.

“She loves him, she will always love him, that’s the problem,” one of Lopez’s friends told the news outlet.

“She truly believed this was the greatest love story she’d ever known and she was finally getting her chance at the fairy tale,” another Hollywood source who knows them shared. “She just really didn’t stop to consider who the actual man was [in] the fairy tale.”

A source noted that the kind of “big love Jennifer believes in” is “not in [Ben’s] DNA” — adding, “Ben has a darkness to him that no other person can fix. [His actress ex-wife] Jen Garner couldn’t fix it, all the success in the world couldn’t fix it.”

The 55-year-old singer, who has asked to remove Affleck from her last name, reportedly gave their relationship “everything she had: her whole heart.”

“She would have done anything to make this work,” the source continued. “She opened herself up to criticism, ridicule, and countless naysayers who told her this was a bad idea, that it was doomed, that there was a reason it didn’t work the first time. But she didn’t want to believe it— she truly believed love would conquer all.”

Lopez filed for divorce from Affleck at the Los Angeles County Superior Court on Tuesday, following months of intense speculations that they’d quietly separated.

Reports previously claimed that she was angry at the “Gone Girl” star for not proceeding with their divorce in a bid to “protect” her from further embarrassment at the time. However, insiders told US Weekly that the couple “planned” her filing and “had gone through all the details” before she pulled the plug.

“They had already agreed to these terms before she filed,” the source explained.” J.Lo finally pulled the trigger because that was their agreement that she would file, and she was the one who ultimately made the decision.”

Their split appears to be proceeding peacefully and amicably, with neither party interested in contesting for each other’s assets. The only outstanding issue to be resolved is the sale of their shared Beverly Hills mansion, which will require a mutually agreeable solution.

“There’s really nothing else to divide,” the insider said about the property. “One person doesn’t want more than the other. They both came in with significant assets of their own.”

Meanwhile, several professional match-making experts have weighed in on the “Let’s Get Loud” singer’s love life following the incoming dissolution of her fourth marriage, per Fox News.

Amy Laurent, a professional matchmaker and author, said that her “extravagant lifestyle” may have taken a negative toll on her marriage.

“Jennifer Lopez is a powerhouse who leads a life far different from most of us,” Laurent told the news outlet. “Celebrities, in general, are in very unique circumstances so are naturally going to face much greater challenges in finding love. For mega-stars with extravagant lifestyles, the difficulty is even greater.”

Celebrity matchmaker Alessandra Conti also quipped that Lopez “has no trouble finding love, she has trouble sustaining a long-term relationship,” likening her to legendary actress Elizabeth Taylor.

The singer broke her silence on social media since filing for divorce from Affleck, sharing a selfie she had previously taken that had been posted by a fan account.

According to a report, the picture appeared to have been taken in December 2020, and Lopez looked stunning in it.

In the image, she is wearing a fuzzy pale pink fleece jacket. A Christmas tree peeks out in the back corner, suggesting that the photo was indeed taken around the holidays.
